CSUSM Educational Resource Study: Survey of 100 Students!

Survey  - 100 Current California State University San Marcos Students

For our surveys, our group elected to distribute physical copies because we believed this method would be easier to hand out around campus as our target group was students currently attending California State University San Marcos. We developed ten questions we felt would extract the best information from students to enhance the rest of our research.  We felt that this method was easier to get our surveys completed as we didn’t have to ask several students for their email addresses. However, the only shortcoming was the in order to process the data we had to tally the results up to one question at a time as we went through all one hundred surveys. This task was very tedious but we were able to get the data and put together an excel spreadsheet of our results.
Our results actually were a little surprising to most of us in our group as we discovered that there is a large percentage of students that utilize the resources available to students fairly regularly. We found that the majority of our participants had utilized the academic advising just about every semester. Furthermore, the writing center was the next popular resources as a little less than half reported to utilize it. This information was very helpful in our project as it helped us figure out exactly what questions to address within our interviews and what was most important to get information on. Overall, the surveys did a great job of informing our group about what the average students are doing to improve their academic experience on campus. When we asked if they would have utilized these resources more often if they had the opportunity to go back in time to previous semesters, we got an overwhelming seventy-five percent that said they would.
