Interview w/ Dr. Lori Bednarchik
Interview w/ Dr. Lori Bednarchik
For my last interview, I
interviewed one of my COMM professors on campus, Dr. Lori Bednarchik, who is my
Conflict and Communication Professor this semester. This interview felt like an open
conversation because she is one of my favorite professors on campus. We just talked about her experience in the
realm of raising awareness of sexual violence and what influenced her to dig
into it. It all started when she
attended the University of Maryland and the time of the Duke Lacrosse incident
where sexual violence occurred from a player.
Ever since then, she has helped educate students, especially male
students in participating programs like FRATmaners and such. It helped educate male students and hoped for
them to use the knowledge that they learned and pass it on in the future. We talked about how it has become such a big phoneme
because more people are speaking now and making sure their voices are being
heard now. Plus, people need to be more
educated when it comes to being aware of sexual violence and that we have our
health services for help if we need it. She is very resourceful and has her own website in regards to booking her for speeches and training in regards to sexual violence awareness such as talking about programs and speeches: (https://www.loribednarchik.com/contact). This was an awesome experience and would totally recommend her in regards to this realm.
